Are you interested and mystified by so called "number stations"?

If you are, then you should carry on reading and take a closer look at a TX-site in my neighbourhood carrying a variety of mysterious transmissions:

Not many TX-sites that send out these mysterious transmissions have actually been pinpointed to date. Currently it seems as if only the Warrenton
site in Virginia, Barford in the UK and the Frankfurt site have been positively ID'd as a source of the so called "Counting Station" and their digital
counterparts mentioned above.

It is still unclear, as to which of the various US-intelligence services is the user of the site and originator of the tfc., not to speak of the recipients of
the numerous messages being transmitted 365 days per year. It appears the site is being run by the Army Security Agency (ASA).

According to natives from the area, the site was constructed shortly after WW II, and it appears that the site was modernized in the early nineties.

The site itself is linked with Rhein Main AFB via microwave link. The service personnel at the site however use civilian cars carrying neutral German
number plates, unlike normal US-servicemen in Germany who have special US number plates. On the other hand there is a signpost permitting only
US-military vehicles to drive through. So it still remains unclear if the site is being serviced by a civilian contractor, the US-MIL or another US-governement
agency.

The TX-site is located in a recreational area south-east of Rhein Main Air Base, surrounded by dense forest, next to the A5 motorway.

The site is is protected by an inner and an outer ring of meshed wire, each being topped by barbed wire. Some parts of the fence seem to be in pretty
bad shape.

Signs on the outer fence, carry both English and German warnings of high voltage. The main gate, leading to the area between the inner and outer ring
of barbed wire, is being controlled by a cypher lock and a remoted video camera.

Only a few buildings can be seen on the site. It seems though as if the transmitters are located below the ground, as large exhausts from a ventilation
system can be seen protruding from the ground.

Various types of HF-antennae are installed on the site:

azimuth bearing of 180° and 140°degrees. All together there are 16 HF antennae, 2 microwave dishes and a 2 VHF/UHFantennae spread throughout the area. Although the site is just a few kilometers
from Frankfurt International Airport, none of the huge towers supporting the antenna arrays carry any anti-collison lights, thus making the site very hard to
detect. Possibly similar sites are located near other US-MIL installations around the world?!
